Mark 4:37-41 37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. 38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? 39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. 40 And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?
41 And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of
man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?
The disciples were in the midst of a great
storm but Jesus was with them. In the voyage of life “storms” sometimes
arise and often they are unexpected. Like the disciples we can become
fearful. It is good to know the Lord is with us in the trials and
difficulties of life. He wants us to trust Him and not to be afraid. If
there had been no storm the disciples would not have witnessed this great
miracle. How comforting to know that whatever the “storm” that comes into
our life that God is in control and nothing is to big for him.
He giveth more grace
as our burdens grow greater,
He sendeth more strength as our labors increase;
To added afflictions He addeth His mercy,
To multiplied trials he multiplies peace.
When we have
exhausted our store of endurance,
When our strength has failed ere the day is half done,
When we reach the end of our hoarded resources
Our Father’s full giving is only begun.
His love has no
limits, His grace has no measure,
His power no boundary known unto men;
For out of His infinite riches in Jesus
He giveth, and giveth, and giveth again.
