The word "Gospel" means good news. One of the greatest verses in our Bible is John 3:16
In this verse we have:
The greatest person - God
The greatest love - God's love
The greatest number - World (everyone)
The greatest gift - His Son
The greatest simplicity - Believing (trusting)
The greatest deliverance - Not perish
The greatest blessing - Everlasting life
The good news is that God in His love has provided salvation. Jesus, on the cross, paid the great price when He give Himself a sacrifice for sin so that we might be saved and have everlasting life. The Bible tells us that we are sinners. Romans 3:23 tells us all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. The wages of sin is death (Rom 6:23) which includes eternal separation from God. We are helpless to save ourselves but God has provided salvation through His Son. If you take the place God gives you as a lost guilty and helpless sinner and put your trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and His finished work on the cross you will be saved.
